Protective Inner Bags: which one is right for you?

Protective inner bags are the layer between your product and the world — frosted, semi-transparent plastic pouches with a ziplock closure used as a protective inner wrap inside an outer mailer or box. Currently a single-SKU family (Misty Bag), but the family layer exists so that future protective inner SKUs (clear poly, bubble wrap, void fill) can slot in without restructuring.

Easily confused

  • "Misty Bag vs Poly Mailer" — Misty is the inner layer, Poly is the outer. Misty is 75 microns frosted with a ziplock (reusable); Poly is 51 microns coloured with a tamper-proof seal (single-use courier bag). They work together — Poly outside, Misty inside, product wrapped.
  • "Misty Bag vs Tissue Paper" — Both are inner wrap. Tissue (tissue-paper) is paper, food-safe, eco-friendly, single-use. Misty is plastic, dust-proof, reusable, not eco. Brand voice and contents decide: bakeries / boutiques prefer tissue; tech / apparel prefer Misty.
  • "Frosted = eco" — No. The frosted appearance is purely aesthetic — Misty Bag is plastic and not eco-friendly.

When this family is the wrong call

  • Outer courier shipping → polymailer-family (51-micron LLDPE/LDPE with tamper-proof seal)
  • Food-direct contact → no Misty Bag SKU is food-safe certified
  • Eco-led brand voice → no eco-friendly and recyclable protective bag in this family; consider tissue paper (tissue-paper) as the eco-friendly inner wrap alternative
  • Crush / impact protection → bubble wrap or foam insert (not in this family yet)
  • Liquid storage or waterproof sealing → Misty is water-resistant with ventilation holes, not a liquid barrier
